How I sew the skirt of a wedding dress from tulle?

How I sew the skirt of a wedding dress from tulle?

I want to sew my wedding dress and the skirt is gonna be made from tulle but Im not sure how to do it. I would like a train on it too. Im not sure how to do that either. I know its a detailed project but Im stuck on this.

You must have a pattern. Trains are shaped into the skirt. They are not usually an add on. Have you ever sewn before, past the basic home ec stage? If not you are probably in over your head. But here are as detailed an instruction as I can give you.Wish I could be there to walk you through it!
If you are doing a tulle overlay you must have a base fabric called an underskirt, such as satin, satin backed crepe,or taffeta.
In addition to these 2(Tulle and base or underskirt layers) you need a lining layer. This lining layer is on the inside and offers both comfort and stability to the outer layers of the garment and acts like a slip. This layer is made separate from the rest of the garment and may be made of butterfly lining. Essentially you are making the garment 3 times, except that at the waistline/neckline and armholes if there are sleeves. with the tulle and underskirt.Cut the underskirt and the tulle layers, and fold together in a packet for cleanliness and to keep them together. Then the lining layer, and any interfacings the pattern calls for.packet these separately. Attach all interfacing pieces where they belong to the lining layer only( prefer to use iron on interfacing here, prom dress that it why I say affix it to the lining) . Be sure to get ALL grain lines on the ABSOLUTE STRAIGHT of all fabric before cutting.
Beginning with the lining, put the skirt together but do not sew the center back seam, then do any darts in the bodice of the dress. Join it together at the shoulder seam if it has one if it is strapless skip this step sewing only the side seams. With right sides together, ease the skirt onto the bodice matching all the notches and the centering dots. Press a 5/8 fold down the center back to the inside on both sides of the garment measure from the top of the back to where ever the zipper ends and make a mark 1/4 inch above the end of the track.Stabilize all neck lines and top edges by stitching 1/8 to 1/4 inch from the edge to prevent stretching.Packet this portion of the garment and set aside. If there is lace on the upper part of the bodice stabilize stitch all the edges and do the same with the under bodice(satin or other fabric),.Beginning with the under layer of the bodice stitch any lace to the under layer as flat pieces then stitch all these pieces together matching all dots and notches and easing where needed, pink with pinking sheers and press these seams open. This completes basic construction of the outer bodice.school prom Again do not join the center back seam. Now move to the tulle layer of the skirt. Using tissue paper underneath (this keeps the tulle from bunching up but you may need to loosen the tension or use a slightly longer stitch for this layer) stitch the skirt pieces together leaving the center back seam open. Pink and press open.(Cool iron only on ALL pieces of the dress.) and set aside. Now moving to the underskirt do the same with this portion of the skirt.
Now move back to the bodice and fit it with the help of someone else. Put it on wrong side out. Just use straight pins where the zipper goes. at the 5/8 seam allowance allowed. (wear the same under garments you plan to wear for the wedding) after fitting is complete make the adjustments and do any beading it may have to be done.(carry beading across the seam lines) and set aside.
Now join the tulle skirt pieces together and then the under skirt pieces. Leaving the center seam open. Now join the tulle skirt(wrong side to right side) to the under skirting matching all the seams. Then join this assembled skirt to the fitted bodice at the waist line. Skirt seams may need to be adjusted if the bodice was taken up in places (if this is the case open the seams of both the tulle and the under skirting for a couple of inches or so and take in to fit the bodice waistline. Fold the 5/8 seam allowance on the center back in and press, measure where the zipper goes and mark it as you did for the lining. Stitch seam from the bottom up to this marking back stitching to strengthen this point. Baste the zipper in place and try on the dress. Make any small adjustments along the zipper line. Insert zipper. Stitch the center back seam of the lining from the bottom for the zipper to the mark you made earlier. Now attach the lining to the bodice at the neckline by sliding the lining over the outer dress right side to right side. Matching all dots and notches trim seam to 3/8 in and clip any curved edges to make it turn neatly and without wrinkles. Turn lining to the inside (you should see no raw seam edges inside the dress after the lining is turned inside..
. Reach inside the slip layer and take hold of the seam and pull out from between the outer and inner layer stitch the upper edges of this seam together this prevents the lining from twisting. now do the lining to the zipper edges using the folded edge as a guide so that fabric does not protrude on to the zipper edges and get caught. Hem and apply any finishing materials to the hem.Thank you very much! Everyone else is telling me to go to a professional. They say that like I didnt already know that! If I did that it would defeat the whole purpose me ME doing it.Tulle sews about like anything else, but I agree that you need some local professional help with this project… there are plenty of bridal designers/constructionists around. If you’re in the US, you might consider consulting with one of the pros at prom dress ukTulle is not a good fabric for the skirt! Too thin and not appropriate.

Tulle is used for veils. Get some help from a professional, or you will be in very big trouble. Wedding dresses are not to be attempted by amateurs.

What is your opinion on a black wedding dress?

What is your opinion on a black wedding dress?

I like always wear black. It is rare that I wear color. I am considering a black wedding dress. I am just curious what other people think about it.

If black flatters you, go for it. But, keep in mind that black is less forgiving of being made in a cheap fabric such as polyester satin than white. Up your budget some and get a dress in a natural fabric such as silk or cotton.

No one is going to think you are a Satanist, so don’t worry about that.prom dress

No less a fashionista than Sarah Jessica Parker wore a black dress for her wedding. Is that the color you want to wear down the aisle? Is that the color that will make you feel beautiful and special on your wedding day?school prom Yes? Then to hell with what anyone else thinks.

I have NO problems with white wedding dresses, if that is what a woman wants to wear on her wedding day, then she can wear her white dress. I have seen white wedding dresses that I think are amazing and beautiful. But the simple fact of the matter is that not every bride to be is dreaming of a white wedding gown. Some of us dream in black, or red, or pink, or blue, even rainbow! So long as the dress you picked out makes YOU feel like a bride, and makes YOU feel beautiful on your wedding day, then that is all that matters.

Oh, and FYI folks, there are countries where brides regularly wear red, and white is worn to funerals. White originally symbolized wealth, where light blue was the color for purity. White symbolizing purity is only a very very recent trend in the grand scheme of things. It would depend on how it looks on you and what style. I am not a fan of the “goth look” so if it were that style, well I would be biased and say it’s not my taste. I also think a black “ball gown” or princess dress would look kind of silly and sort of whimsical, which is not what I am going for at my wedding.

But a long, form fitting black evening gown or a silk black gown could be beautiful. I think for a day wedding, it may look off, but if you’re having an evening wedding, I bet it could look really stunning. It also depends on all the colors you choose for everything else.I am not looking forward to wedding dress shopping in that I have pale skin, so white is not really flattering on me. I have considered black because it’s a good color on both me and my fiance. I feel like black for a wedding dress is definetly a “statement” and I am not going for shock and awe, lol. I am probably just going to go with a cream or butter colored gown though. I don’t think black is out of the question for someone, just pick the right dress. I think a black gown with red roses and lots of dark green foliage for decorations and other complimentary colors for your linens and chairs, like gold, butter, or silver could look really pretty. Just don’t have you in a black wedding dress and everything else decorated all bright and white and pink flowers or something. That would look really off. I think a black dress could work, it’s just all about coordinating the rest of the wedding colors. It could look really beautiful. Do what you want, it’s your day!I work in a Bridal shop and have heard many bizarre ideas in my time, but a black dress has never been one of them.

It really shouldn’t be considered purely because black represents mourning (this is why we wear black to funerals). I don’t believe it is appropriate for a Wedding at all, colour is one thing, but I think Black is a step too far if I am perfectly honest.

I have seen some dresses however that are almost 50/50 black and white, so if you’re so keen on the idea of Black perhaps you can go for something like that?

Otherwise just stick to White, is there really anything so bad about not wearing Black and embracing a little change for your Wedding day?I think that’s fine, I mean black is the most formal color God made, after all ;) Just keep in mind that brides wear white in order to stand out from the guests, because no one in their right mind would wear white to a wedding, it steals focus. Lots of women wear black to weddings tho, so you very well may be wearing the same color as many of your guests.Personally, i love black wedding dress, i will not care about what others think about it.Anyway ,it’s ur wedding,Quinceanera Dresses everything in the wedding represent ur personality and faith.Besides,i do think a black wedding dress is full of mystery.i think if it will make you feel beautiful and all that, then you should wear a black dress!

you are the main person of the day, alongside your spouse.. all eyes are on you and you must be comfortable in your own skin… if wearing white will make you uncomfortable - why wear it? it defeats the purpose of your dress making you feel beautiful.I will be wearing a dress that is black. There’s some white on it too, but a lot of black.

I think it is perfectly fine. NO ONE will tell me what I can and can not wear. If people don’t like it they don’t have to attend the wedding or be involved in my life.I can’t agree black wedding dress, it looks bad. Or you can choose red wedding dress, Chinese people usually wear the red one on their wedding means good luck forever. http://www.hadbuy.com/chinese-embroidery…Queen Victoria was the first person to wear a white wedding dress, and that is when it became popular. I always thought black would make a lovely wedding dress.

If that is what you want to wear and your partner would understand if you wore it…then go for it.I think it signals that the bride is trying way way too hard to be unconventional. Having your own style is a good thing, but being totally unconventional comes across as striving to shock. That translates to personal insecurity and craving of attention — not good.Black is for funerals. Even though you love to wear black - for this one ’special’ occasion…..buy a white wedding dress. When people attend a wedding - they go there to see the bride wearing white.
If I knew a bride was going to wear black - I would NOT attend.well if you do decide to wear a black dress some people are going to love it and some wont, BUT you cant always please everyone, so if you wanna wear a black dress then a black dress should be worn!

Finding a Prom Dress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Do you think this dress would be nice for a prom? I absolutely fell in love with it! The colour, the style, etc =D You can wear some kick-*** shoes with this dress xD

I think it’s adorable! But it all depends on what body type you are when it comes to how it would look on you. “Seventeen” magazine is good for these things. I hope it looks amazing on you!If you like it,prom dresses go for it. Just make sure you get it in a color that will compliment your skin tone. The one shown can wash you out if you’re not the right skin tone. These color charts should help you determine which color to get: prom dressit’s amazing i love the colour and ignore the person who said it looks like an old ladies dress, old ladies would never wear that unless they wear really stylishuhh. no. sorry.
the boww really bugs me. :(
and it kinda looks like something an old lady would wear :(
no offense !This dress has a bold color and a spectacular bow and trim…I can see why you love it. Go for it!O_O

What color of nail polish would look best w/a turquoise dress? And what should i wear 2 the 8th grade promotion

I’m in 7th grade and had a 3.833 GPA, so I get to help with the 8th grade promotion, and my teacher said to dress up nice, but even nicer for the dance, which I was invited to by an 8th grader. I already have a dress for the dance, and I’m going to buy another one for the promotion, but i wanted to know what to wear. Can you make some examples??? (Also, i need to know if i should do my own manicure or what color of polish i shouls use?)prom dress

Well first off all I would suggest getting french tips for your nails. A for the 8th grade promotion i would go to jcpenny, I’m in 8th grade and I’m graduating this year and i got 2 dresses there( we need two), or you could go to Charlotte russe, new york and company, Macy’s, and anywhere you think will have cute summer dresses. I would get a sun dress not to fancy so you don’t take away from the 8th graders spot light. oooo and congrates on your GPA and on getting asked to the dance by an 8th grader.I would put gold tips on my nails, if you’re wearing gold jewelry with the dress.school prom Gold looks so pretty with turquoise. And you don’t have to buy a dress for thee promotion. Well, maybe you do, but I would ask some 8th grade girls what to wear. I bet most of them will just wear a nice skirt or khakis. Or gaucho pants. I think slipper shoes also are nice and dressy but also comfy.with the dress: wear clear nail polish with glitter, really light blue nail polish, or maybe even light turquoise or white. try a cute hairstyle.
promotion: how bout a skirt about knee-length or something like that? i dunno. then a shirt thats not too fancy but not too boring. im not sure.NOO girls will not be wearing khakis and gauches they will be wearing dresses from like macys. id say french manicure or light pink as for dress. I will be attending an 8th grade graduation and its pretty fancyI think a pretty hot pink but not too hot pink would be a good nail polish that would go with turqouise. prom dress ukI think a nice black dress would be cute, black is always really dressy and you could get some colorful jewerly to go with it I think that would be really nice!

My friend is making me buy my own bridesmaid dress?

My friend is making me buy my own bridesmaid dress?

I live in chicago and she lives in San Diego. When she asked me to be in the wedding, I assumed she was buying my dress since I have to pay for an airline ticket and hotel when I come to the wedding. But she just text me that all the bridesmaids are buying their own dresses. Now im not sure I even want to go. Should she pay for my dress?

When I got married I bought we bought our wedding party’s dresses and tuxes.prom dress I just assumed thats how it was supposed to be.

While it is nice that some brides buy their bridal party’s gowns, it is not usually the case. Most commonly, the bridesmaids buy their own dresses, shoes, accessories and pay to get hair, nails, etc. done. Kinda a sucky job, isn’t it? Especially when you don’t even get to choose the dress you are buying/wearing!school prom
Maybe you could talk to your friend and see if she is willing to pay half since you are flying out for the wedding. Or maybe you could ask her if you can pick out your own dress so that you can find something cheaper. I chose the color I wanted for my wedding and I am letting my bridesmaids choose their own dresses. That way, they can find something in their price range that they actually like!In the US the bridesmaids buy their own wedding attire (gown, shoes, shawl, and jewelry) UNLESS otherwise stated by the Bride or the Bride’s family or the Groom’s family. (And the Groomsmen rent their own tuxedos). And the bridesmaids are also responsible to pay for their own day at the spa or hair salon UNLESS otherwise stated.

There is no rule that says just because you are asked to be a bridesmaids means you have to be a bridesmaid. If you feel being a member of the bridal party (showers, bachelorette party, other pre-wedding parties, etc) will be a financial burden then just say, “Thanks, but no thanks.”

Just be grateful that she didn’t pick out a gown that cost $499 as one Bride did. And surprise, surprise, the Maid of Honor dropped out and so did all of the bridesmaids. The Bride walked down the aisle alone.

Answered by: A Certified wedding specialist / A Professional bridal consultant / A Wedding ceremony officiantIt is not required that the bride and groom pay for their attendants’ dresses/tuxes. It’s really nice that you and your husband paid for your attendants’ attire, but that’s not “how it’s supposed to be”. When a woman says she will be a bridesmaid in a wedding she is accepting the fact that she will be responsible for everything the bride needs her to wear/do. This means paying for her own dress, jewelry, make up, hair, etc. The bride may pay for these things herself if she so wishes, but she is not required to.It’s pretty much expected that bridesmaids and groomsmen will pay for their own attire, unless the bride/groom specifically offer to pay. prom dress uk I’ve had to buy my own dress and shoes, plus travel costs (plane tickets and hotel), for the four weddings I’ve been in over the past three years.

If you can’t afford to purchase a bridesmaid dress, then you should let the bride know that you can’t undertake the financial burden of being a bridesmaid and tell her you will understand if she chooses someone else to replace you. Then you can just go to the wedding as a normal guest.

Does Christianity have a certain dress ‘limit’, or can Christian women show off their bodies in scanty clothes?

Does Christianity have a certain dress ‘limit’, or can Christian women show off their bodies in scanty clothes?

Most of the women that come on beauty contests are Christians. Most of the women that wear those string swimsuits, and show as much as skin as possible; are Christians too. prom dressAlmost all Christians dont even realize how important dressing modestly is, its a shame. Most of them dont want to dress up like ‘nuns’, but forget that’s how Mary (mother of Jesus) used to dress.

What you are saying is somewhat of a generalization.

I know that this does happen but, if people are serious about their spiritual journey then they will be mindful of what messages they are sending about themselves and their spiritual beliefs with how they dress, how they walk, how they talk, how they carry themselves.

I was taught that we are of this world but NOT supposed to do things like the people in the world. We are called to be the salt and light.

We can’t do things the same way that people who are unbelievers do things and think that they will respect or value or opinions when we begin to talk about God’s love for them and how he wants and desires the best for them. It makes it hard to share the Gospel when your LifeStyle is contrary to what the Bible teaches.school prom

So, I don’t think there is anything in the Bible that says your skirt hem has to be so long or whatever but, it is hard for people to see the Love of Jesus shining through you when all the first see if Lust and eroticism staring them in the face which distracts people especially men that are very visual creatures. The view is obscured by your choice in clothing. If you’re so concerned just dress normally. Don’t worry about others. If you want to learn how to criticize christianity, go to the R&S section.

You’re doing it all wrong and you’re only attacking the people who claim the title but don’t live the lifestyle.

Not to mention this section deals with race and not religion so you’re trolling on the wrong section anyway. You’re attacking the wrong target and doing it the wrong way in the wrong place. Most women in my church just dress as normal….some wear tight clothes..

I just usually wear my normal clothes to church….i dont care what they think of me.

and i dont dress raunchyor anything like that….I just dress my age (18).Quinceanera DressesThat there what you said is what is called ‘hypocrisy.’ Not much difference for any christian to confess his/her sins committed over the weekend and then turn around the following weekend sin again.God loves you however you dress…so no, no limits really.

What color of shoes and Clutch bag make long violet dress look even better?

i just bought cavalli violet dress it has golden brooch

i really need ideas for clutch and shoes colorprom dresses

both of them gold?

isn’t that old fashion?

sorry i’m not that into latest fashion trendsprom dress uk
i do see celebrities wear the same color for shoes and clutches

i just found high heels from milano shoes
they have mixed color as floral print on them

green white little purple and black

do they fit with the dress?

gold

—yeah I would go both gold. Its not old fashioned it’s safe. Things don’t always have to match they have to “go”

in other words I would have to see both to give my opinion on whether they would “go” with it. ask a lot of different people what they think and see what the general consensus is ..or post some pictures?Either a bronze-y colour, or a gold if you can find it. If the brooch wasn’t in the combination I’d suggest silver if you had a thing for metallics.Quinceanera Dresses Either of these colours would enhance the dress if used well. Don’t go overboard, you might end up upstaging the dress.

What to match with a light pink/chocolate colored prom dress?

Prom is coming up, and I really want to match my girlfriends dress. The best way I can describe the dress is that it is light pink with beads and a chocolate colored band around the waist. I am fashionably challenged.prom dress I’m not the greatest with matching colors. Anyone have any tips? I don’t have any links to the dress so even general tips would help greatly. Please and thanks!

I’m guessing you mean for your tux.prom dress uk Most places will probably have a light pink that may match the dress well. And maybe even a chocolate brown. You can also go shopping with her and try to find a tie that you both like that would match. And I’m sure she would love to do that! If not, just get a flower that matches the color of her dress and wear plain black and white. Hope I helped! You’re probably right with going out and buying a tie.school prom The tux is the expensive thing so going out and buying a tie won’t be too bad and it will probably match much better. Thank you a lot!

I wanna do the National American miss pageant but can anyone tell me where to find a prom dress/evening gown ?

My older sister who is a Jr. Teen does National American Miss! It’s an awesome opportunity for her.
Anyways, for a pre-teen dress, prom dresses you should go to a bridal store and get a flower girl dress if you’re small. If your tall, then you should to to Macys or a local prom dress I believe that for this sort of thing it would be best to get the dress made to your exact fot because you can’t find an evenin gown for a pre teen so juast be sure to look for someone who makes dresses for this type of even and you’ll do fine GOOD LUCKYou could look on eBay… school prom sometimes you can find a nice gown on there that is unique and inexpensive, or just pick up your local phone book and look under pageant/prom and you may be able to find local boutiques. Or you can always search the web. Scala has nice gowns.the internet is the best source…i bought my homecoming dress for really cheap. try like promgirl.com….or type in homecoming, prom or formal dresses on google and a bunch of sites pop up…otherwise some of my friends bought theirs at ross…and they looked gorgeous! prom dress uk
